MAKE THE MOVE. THE FESTIVAL WILL HAVE A NEW LOCATION THIS YEAR HERE AT THE RIVERFRONT LOTS AT THE 15TH STREET PLAZA IN THE STRIP DISTRICT, AND A NEW SCHEDULE. THE FESTIVAL’S USUAL TEN DAY STRETCH WILL BE CUT DOWN TO FOUR DAYS. JUNE 5TH THROUGH THE EIGHTH. I WISH IT WAS STILL LONGER. I WILL SAY THAT I THINK IT’S GREAT. I MEAN, THE STRIP IN THE SUMMERTIME IS LIKE BUSTLING, SO I THINK IT’S A GREAT CHOICE TO MOVE IT DOWN HERE. IT’LL BRING EVEN MORE PEOPLE DOWN. AND THE TERMINAL IS AWESOME. SO YEAH. THIS MOVE BY THE PITTSBURGH CULTURAL TRUST COMES AS THE DOLLAR BANK, THREE RIVERS ARTS FESTIVAL’S FUTURE HOME WILL BE UNDER CONSTRUCTION. THAT’S THE EIGHTH STREET BLOCK. CIVIC SPACE. SEVERAL OTHER CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS ALLEGEDLY PRESENTED CHALLENGES TO HOLDING IT IN OTHER DOWNTOWN SITES. THE PITTSBURGH CULTURAL TRUST SAYS THIS NEW LOCATION IN THE STRIP DISTRICT WILL BE A ONE YEAR ONLY DEAL. ARTIST JASON RODRIGUEZ, WHO TRAVELS FROM NEW ORLEANS TO PITTSBURGH EVERY SUMMER FOR THIS FESTIVAL, SAYS HE WELCOMES THE CHANGE OF SCENERY. I KNOW THAT THEY’RE GOING TO DO RIGHT BY ALL THE ARTISTS AND VENDORS AND YOU KNOW THEY ALWAYS DO GREAT WITH THE MUSICAL PERFORMANCES AND LIKE THE INTERACTIVE ZONES. SO I MEAN, I’M EXCITED FOR IT TO BE IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION. TO BE HONEST, I FEEL LIKE FORT DUQUESNE CAN BE A LITTLE CONGESTED, AND WE’RE TOLD A MAP OF THE FESTIVAL, AS WELL AS A PERFORMERS LINEUP WILL BE RELEASED THIS SPRING. HOWEVER, THIS FRIDAY IS THE DEADLINE FOR ANY ARTISTS WHO WANT TO APPLY TO BE A PART OF THIS FESTIVAL. YOU CAN FIND THE LINK FOR THAT APPLICATION ON THIS STORY ON OUR WTAE APP. REPORTING
