T-mobile forcing me to an phone on 1/1/22. My Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge will not work on/migrate to their 5G platform. Will an XR serve me well with 5G over the next several years?
Please advise & thank you.
iPhone XR

Per Apple Forum/Community Feedback:So I need to go iPhone12 or newer, despiteinternet sayingotherwise but don't want to buy a phone, set it up, & it only work one month on Sprint/T-mobile prior to 1/1/22. One would think T-mobile wouldn't sell a phone with only short term compatibility when they're forcing everyone to go 5G with a compatible phone on 1/1/22?!?!

The iPhone XR is not 5G compatible. The only 5G phones Apple has are the iPhone 12 & 13 series. As far as what T-Mobile will support, that is their business decision, and if you wish to remain with T-Mobile, it would seem they require you to have a 5G capable iPhone.

I cannot speak for T-Mobile of course, but the use of 5G is dependent on the phone hardware, so you would need a phone that supports 5G, and for the iPhone, that is currently the iPhone 12 or 13 series.

If you want an iPhone that will support 5G, then yes you need an iPhone 12 or newer. Those series of iPhones are the only ones that will support 5G. An iPhone XR will not support 5G.
What do you mean by the statement "despite internet saying otherwise"? While the iPhone 12 or 13 series will support 5G, they also support the current cellular networks. Again, what T-Mobile decides to do is up to them. However, it does not have anything to do with your original question about what iPhone supports the 5G network.
I am really trying to help, but you keep repeating about T-Mobile and selling phones that will selling a phone with a short term compatibility. What T-Mobile sells doesn't matter at this point, if you are being told you need a 5G phone, I've provided you the current choices as far as the iPhone is concerned.
